Find me!
Greta and I have started playing a new game. It's like Marco Polo without the Polo. I sit somewhere in the room and call her "Greta come find me!" Every time I call her she gets a little bit closer and when she does find me she licks my fingers and wags her fluffy tail. It is amazing that when we brought her home a little more than a week ago all she did was circle nervously. Now she navagiates the entire house by following the walls. She is a very special girl with so much love to give.

An Afternoon Stroll with Greta
The weather was so beautiful that Greta and I decided to take an extra stroll this afternoon and soak up some sunshine. She has gained so much confidence and is walking at an even faster pace right by my side. No more hesitation at every new driveway. She just kept right on going as if she was on a mission. She is gaining weight and recovering her strength. You can't help but smile at the fabulous dog blossoming in front of you. She is so special and I cannot wait to see her in full bloom.
Bath time
We still have a little case of the poops because of the food transition this week, so it was time for another bath to make sure she keeps smelling like oatmeal and lavender. She is such a good sport about bath time and follows me right into the walk in shower. After a good scrubbing I toweled her off and conditioned her fluffy fur coat. She stood quietly on the bath towel as I sprayed and brushed her everywhere. When she was all done she found her giant dog bed and took a short nap while she air dried. Of course there were also some treats involved for good behavior. She is such a good girl and she smells lovely.

Yum Yum Salmon Jerky!
We've been trying to fatten up this petite beauty with an extra meal at lunch time and lots of delicious treats. Now don't get me wrong, Greta loves all treats, especially soft, chewy ones, but salmon jerky is in a category all on its own. It comes in long sticks so I will take one and put it in between her paws and then away she goes!

About half way through she'll have jerky hanging out of either side of her mouth with a big smile on her face.

By the end of snack time, all that's left are crumbs, which my other dogs take care of like the vacuum cleaners they are. Everyone loves salmon in this house.

PowWow Around Greta
The rest of our dogs have followed Mamah's lead and accepted Greta into their pack. Today after playtime they all gathered around her. It was adorable.

Our pitbull puppy Apollo has become very interested in being Greta's friend. He will lay on her and occasionally step on her as he jumps around. He will stick his face in her bowl sometimes when I'm not looking, but Greta doesn't mind sharing. She is such a sweetheart. Greta is a pillar of patience and calmly looks in his direction as if to say "This is the spa section of the house. Try to relax love." She is so zen.

A Morning with Greta
There are few things I love more than a dog that loves to snuggle and Greta is the poster child of snuggles. We have settled into a nice routine. Starting with breakfast in the morning and some extra chicken broth to make the kibble super delicious.

Then a nice leisurely stroll around the front yard while I drink my coffee. As a grad student, I'm a caffeine addict, so having my coffee with Greta has become one of the highlights of my morning. After all of our outside business is done we head back inside. This is where Greta truly shines because it's cuddle time! We sit together on the dog bed and watch some tv while we snuggle. She rests her head on my knee and keeps me nice and toasty, which is another quality I love since I'm from Florida where the lowest temperatures are about 70 degrees.

What was new in our routine today is that my dog Mamah decided that she wanted to cuddle with Greta too! It brought tears to my eyes as Mamah kissed Greta's nose and took a place next to her. Our dogs were initially cautious with Greta when she first arrived and it is so wonderful that they have accepted her as one of the pack. She is a charmer this one.
